Cette monographie permet de découvrir en profondeur le travail de l’artiste. Né en 1983, Rero s'est imposé depuis plus d'une décennie comme l'un des street artistes les plus importants de la scène française et internationale. Fortement imprégné de philosophie et de sociologie, son travail ne cesse d’interroger les codes de notre société, notamment autour des notions de consommation et d’obsolescence. Des thèmes d'une brûlante actualité.

Dans son travail et ses messages énigmatiquement barrés qui en sont la signature, Rero interroge d'un côté le contexte de l’art et ses codes, et d’un autre le statut de l’image et de la propriété intellectuelle à travers un acronyme qui apparaît régulièrement dans ses œuvres, WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) : sans jamais juger, il met la personne qui regarde en position de le faire.

Détournement et auto-censure sont les maîtres mots des recherches de l’artiste axées sur la négation de l’image. Sa démarche, moins esthétique que porteuse de sens, touche à la négation de l'image. Beaucoup de ses textes, tous écrits en police Verdana, « la typographie la plus utilisée sur le Net », jouent sur le langage informatique (ERROR 404, IMAGE NOT AVAILABLE) questionnant par là même la course à laquelle se livre notre histoire technologique.

Théophile Pillault est journaliste et auteur. Il a collaboré aux revues Vice, Mouvement, Trax Magazine ou aux Inrockuptibles. Il a initié pour le peintre Toma-l le projet d’édition Vas-y (paru en 2011, primé en 2013 au Fedrigoni Top Awards). En 2014, il a signé The Chronicles (Éditions David Pluskwa / Pyramyd, Gingko Press), la première monographie dédiée au peintre JonOne.

This monograph provides an in-depth discovery of the artist's work. Born in 1983, Rero has established himself for more than a decade as one of the most important street artists on the French and international scene. Strongly inspired by philosophy and sociology, his work never ceases to question the codes of our society, particularly around the notions of consumption and obsolescence. Hot topics.

In his work and his enigmatic crossed out messages that are its signature, Rero questions on the one hand the context of art and its codes, and on the other the status of the image and intellectual property through an acronym. who appears regularly in his works, WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get): without ever judging, he puts the viewer in a position to do so.
